Frozen shoulder is awful when it happens and can make everyday movements—such as reaching overhead, getting dressed, or washing your hair—painful and difficult. As the shoulder joint becomes stiff, the surrounding connective tissue and fascia can tighten, further limiting range of motion and creating discomfort.
Through guided, assisted stretching techniques, Fascial Stretch Therapy works to reduce fascial restriction and myofascial tension, helping the shoulder gradually regain flexibility and function. By improving circulation to the connective tissue and supporting natural movement patterns, treatment can help reduce discomfort and assist in restoring range of motion as part of a comprehensive approach to recovery.
As we age, it is common to experience increased stiffness, reduced flexibility, and decreased range of motion. Over time, the body’s connective tissue and fascia can become tighter and less elastic, which may contribute to joint discomfort, limited mobility, and difficulty performing everyday activities such as walking, reaching, or bending.
Fascial Stretch Therapy uses gentle, assisted stretching techniques to help improve mobility and restore movement throughout the body. By reducing fascial restriction and myofascial tension, treatment can help support joint health, improve flexibility, and promote greater ease of movement. Many older adults find that regular sessions help them stay active, maintain independence, and continue enjoying the activities they love.
Athletic performance depends on mobility, flexibility, and efficient movement patterns. Over time, intense training and repetitive movement can create fascial restriction and myofascial tension, limiting range of motion and placing additional stress on muscles and joints. When fascia becomes tight, it can reduce power output, restrict movement, and increase the risk of injury.
Fascial Stretch Therapy helps optimize athletic performance by improving mobility throughout the connective tissue system. Through guided, assisted stretching, the therapy helps decompress joints, lengthen fascia lines, and restore natural movement patterns. Many athletes use Fascial Stretch Therapy to enhance recovery, improve flexibility, and support better performance in activities such as running, climbing, weightlifting, skiing, and other high-demand sports.

Fascia is a continuous network of connective tissue that runs throughout the entire body. It surrounds and supports muscles, joints, bones, nerves, and organs, creating an interconnected system that helps the body move as a coordinated whole. Rather than functioning as separate parts, fascia links different regions of the body together through long connective tissue chains that influence posture, mobility, and stability.
When the fascia becomes tight or dehydrated, fascial restrictions can develop. These restrictions may create myofascial tension, limiting normal movement and placing stress on joints and surrounding tissues. Over time, fascial restriction can contribute to pain, stiffness, reduced flexibility, and decreased range of motion, often affecting areas such as the hips, lower back, shoulders, and neck.
Mobility therapy techniques such as Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) focus on restoring the health and elasticity of this connective tissue system.
By gently stretching the fascia and decompressing joints through guided movement, fascial stretch therapy helps reduce myofascial tension, improve circulation within the connective tissue, and restore natural movement patterns. As the fascia regains flexibility, many people experience improved mobility, reduced pain, and greater ease of movement in everyday activities and athletic performance.

Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is a manual therapy that focuses on stretching and releasing the connective tissue called fascia that surrounds muscles, bones, and joints. It is fully clothed and pain-free.
FST involves gentle, assisted stretching performed by a trained therapist. Unlike traditional stretching, FST integrates movements that involve multiple planes of movement simultaneously and follows the fascial networks that connect your body.

Boost Flexibility + Range of Motion
By targeting your body’s fascial networks—rather than just muscles—each session amplifies natural alignment, balance, and biomechanical efficiency. Expect noticeable improvements in movement quality right from day one.
Performance Gains & Injury Prevention
Looser fascia enhances circulation and neuromuscular coordination, which translates into better athletic performance, quicker recovery, and reduced risk of strains or overuse injuries.

Fascia Stretch Thjerapy vs Massage Therapy
Fascia Stretch Therapy (FST) and massage therapy both help reduce pain and improve movement, but they work in different ways. Massage therapy primarily focuses on the muscles, using pressure and manipulation to release tension and improve circulation.
Fascia Stretch Therapy, by contrast, targets the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, joints, and nerves throughout the body.
During an FST session, the practitioner gently stretches the body through specific movement patterns to decompress joints, lengthen fascia lines, and restore mobility across entire movement chains.
Many clients find Fascia Stretch Therapy especially helpful for hip tightness, lower back pain, neck restriction, shoulder restriction, and mobility limitations, particularly if traditional massage provides only temporary relief. Because it focuses on the body’s connective tissue network, FST often produces longer-lasting improvements in mobility and movement quality.
Fascia stretch therapy with Mountain Stretch is suitable for people of all ages, especially those seeking to feel and perform at their best.
FST will help optimize your natural ability to run faster, hike more easily, and conquer that hill, shaving off those extra seconds.
Since FST decompresses joints, many with low back discomfort, neck stiffness, or tight and sore muscles find relief and ease of movement again.
It is ideal for fitness enthusiasts, elite athletes, weekend warriors, runners, models, mothers, fathers, and anyone who wants to feel and move their best.

Located within the Canmore Health & Wellness Centre. An 80-minute fascial stretch therapy session allows for a deeper, more comprehensive treatment. This extended session provides time to address full fascial lines and focus on specific areas of tension, helping reduce myofascial tightness, improve mobility, and support long-lasting pain relief.

Running places repetitive stress on the hips, hamstrings, calves, and lower back. Fascial Stretch Therapy helps reduce fascial restriction, improve mobility, and support better stride mechanics, helping runners move more efficiently and recover faster.
Climbing demands strength and flexibility through the hips, shoulders, and spine. Fascial Stretch Therapy helps release myofascial tension and improve joint mobility, allowing climbers to move more freely and reduce strain during long sessions on the wall or rock.
Long hikes and steep terrain can create tight hips, calves, and lower back stiffness. Stretching the fascia helps restore mobility through the legs and hips, making it easier to move comfortably on the trails around the Bow Valley.
Heavy lifting can lead to tight connective tissue around the hips, shoulders, and spine. Fascial Stretch Therapy helps improve mobility and joint decompression, supporting better movement patterns and reducing injury risk during training.
Maintaining healthy fascia is an important part of staying active as we age. Fascial Stretch Therapy supports flexibility, joint health, and ease of movement, helping people maintain mobility and continue enjoying an active lifestyle.

I experienced excruciating hip pain for years.
As far back as I can remember, I complained of having pain in my hips. Everyone I saw told me that I had tight hip flexors and that my glutes did not fire (not helpful). I suffered through years of chronic pain and inability to move because of hip dysplasia, which was not diagnosed until I was 36. At about the same time I was diagnosed I discovered this "stretch therapy," because my friend bascially demanded I try it. Fascial stretch therapy had me walking and climbing mountains again after five sessions. This surprised me as I had tried every modality to experience some reprieve from the pain, discomfort, and lack of mobility. Addressing the fascia changed my life, so I became a fascia stretch practitioner to show others what FST has done for me. Now, fast forward through the years, I have had three major hip surgeries, one a total replacement and the other a reconstruction, which makes me all the more dedicated to your goals, but with a compassionate and understanding lens. Fascia stretch therapy continues to assist me in maintaining my fascia mobility, completing and enhancing my weightlifting goals, and feeling great! I am confident you'll love it after one session. Because of my experience with Fascia Stretch Therapy, I am passionate about working with you to achieve your goals so that you, too, can experience how excellent and dramatic FST results can be.
